Karajan Audio Module

Recommended Posts

I had a crappy Creative Labs sound blaster 16 bit installed and decided to install the Karajan Audio module. I hooked up the CD-in connection, but i didn't hook up for the front audio ports because I don't need them. Anyways, i installed the AC'97 driver from the utility cd and then i also double checked in the BIOS to make sure AC-97 was on Auto. Well, i went to check the sound and I am not getting anything. I have a 5.1 surround sound system and it was working before with my old card. Also, its plugged into the right port which would be Green.

I made sure it was recognized in the Control Panel, had all the recent drivers and had all the volumes up in the sound panel. and still, no sound. what could be wrong???

How about uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, if that dont work how about using the Realtek driver instead of the nvidia????

I would use driver cleaner to remove all your old drivers then reinstall the realtek drivers as Loggan suggested but make sure you clean out all your old drivers.

You don't need the old analog audio cable any more. All current media players read the digital info through the data cable for better audio quality.

BTW

The nVidia audio drivers and applications are much better than the Realtek stuff.

Use the nVidia mixer application and setup your speakers with the wizard. Very simple.

ok. i will try it when i get home. it was not on mute and i did uninstall and reinstall the drivers and made sure they were gone from the reg.

so your saying i don't need the cable that goes from the Audio Module to the DVD drive?

got it working fellas. turns out, i had the wrong drivers. i was installing the nforce chipset drivers with that ac97 stuff instead of the nvmixer program.

something simple that i just overlooked.
