General Septem Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 No fancy options like "Thermalright SI-128" or "Zalman CNPS1950" or anything like that. I'm just interested in the porportions as far as people using air cooling, water cooling, or extreme cooling, which encompasses TEC, phase change, dry ice, and so on. taowulf Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I guess if you chill the inside of your house to drop the ambient, that still counts as air cooling. Just kidding, but my house does get cold in the winter.

thejamesvolta Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I want to go water-cooling in the future, but don't really see the need for it now. Rather spend the money upgrading system.
General Septem Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I'm still on stock cooling myself. I didn't vote because I haven't decided which one I'd want to go with in the long run although I'm leaning towards watercooling, especially with an Opteron 165.
sswilson Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I went with a WC kit just to "get my feet wet" and I'll certainly keep WC on my list of things I always want for my main rig. That said.... I'm not going to go crazy and convert the other three computers in the house to WC.
MACarter02 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 WC for me. It was definitely a pain tho. :shake:
UncleDavid218 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Watercooling. It's so much fun modding a case in preparation for the cooling components
Voltes-5 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Watercooling. It's so much fun modding a case in preparation for the cooling components Yap, watercooling is so much fun to do. I myself modded my X-Alien case four times when I had my system on it. Modded the Raidmax case for it too. Same went with the SuperLanboy case. But now I've got my system on a Lian Li PC-V880, all air cooling and seems to hold its temps pretty decently with some well placed fans. Branjo Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Air at the moment as winter comes in and turns my basement into a fridge which is just great for overclocks, but next summer Im for WC for sure.
Guest caffeinejunkie Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Right now my 3800 is sitting under a humongous si-128 and it stays pretty chilly but Im in the process of gutting and completely modding an old standalone koolance unit for when I go xfire.
