audio problems and unknown devices / 4x256MB?

hi,

 

when i go on nvmixer it says hardware not installed this program will now exit. also there is an device labled 'unknown device' in device manager. and the raid controller was not installed at f6 so is that the unknown device?

Hello,

 

Did you format the drive (quick format) when you installed windows?

 

You do not need to press F6 unless, you have enabled RAID mode.

So that is not a problem.

 

In windows did you install the nvidia chipset driver + Realtek driver?

 

Nvidia chipset driver also has an audio driver.

If you mixed realtek with nvidia it will not work.

 

So totally uninstall both and only use the nvidia drivers.

 

Unknown device =, probably the Marvell Yukon network card.

Must install the drivers for it or disable it in the bios.

 

Minimum PSU spec = 480W, I know you know this and that is why you put that comment in your sig. (change it to will be getting a new psu soon )

its not the lan driver becuase im using that port now, oh and thanks for the audio tip, its working fine now =D. and yes i did do a quick format as im 2 impatient to wait.

There are 2 network cards?

nvidia = 1st

Marvell = 2nd drivers not installed by default

can i add another 2 x 256mb geil value pc2300 sticks to make 4 sticks. would i have any issues?

If they are exactly the same as in bought at the same time or you know both sets have the same chips, yes.

 

But you will need to change CPC to disabled in the bios.

both lans are enabled and drivers are installed. the unknown device is unknown

and the memory, i bought 2 x 256 a couple of weeks ago and am looking to buy the same kit agin to use in the yellow slots. wil this be ok

That is something I would not recommend but, DDR memory is in short supply and most people buy 2x512MB kits/2x1GB kits.

 

So it should still be from the same batch/be the same.

Are you an unlucky person?

 

If you try to install drivers does it try to search for a suitable one?

Or windows cannot find a driver?

:mad: windows cant find a driver and i cant even work out what it is.

iv been lucky so far with this mobo with me low wattage psu lol.

im too poor to buy a 1gb kit

does it even need to be the same batch as the other kit as its running in the yellow slots in dual channel mode?

And the same batch is an awesome good thing to have. And by the way the board does not care one bit whether you can afford to get good pieces or the most compatible parts...it will just sit there and act like it is going no where until what it likes is installed...boards do not care what your financial status is, only that you put compatible pieces in...
