Guest Haven Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Now, I'm not necessarily a noob with over clocking, but I had never expected to get my 4400+ to 3.0Ghz. My system is: DFI LanParty UT CFX3200 2x1GB Corsair RAM DDR 400 AMD Athlon 64 4400+ @ 3.0 My cooling system is complete air, the CPU itself is cooled by a ZALMAN CNPS9500. My question is, should I try to go any farther? My temperatures (according to smart guardian/an average between SG and BIOS) never go above 110F when running Prime 95 and the only voltage change was from 1.35 to 1.37. Any opinions or comments are appreciated.
MACarter02 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 First: Sig. Second: Tons of CPUs will hit 3 Ghz. Are you toaster stable though? Thats the real question. Hit the OC database rules section for some info on really checkin if your cpu is stable.
dede99 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 look's great but you should make some stability test like Carter said allready then it will be fine
Guest Haven Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 How long do I need to run "toaster" and lets just say it's completely stable......should I OC anymore?
MACarter02 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 First thing you should do is run two instances of Prime95. There are tutotials in the Overclocking Database rules section. 8 hrs is a good time. If you hit 8 hrs, you are toaster stable. I did 12 hrs once I found somewhere that I wanted to run my computer at indefinately. Just read the oc rules section and throw everything you can at your new overclock. OCCT, memtest windows, benchies, etc. Then, make an OC database entry, and link to it in this thread so we can check it out! Good luck! Guest Haven Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 So far ive run: 3D mark 05 -10 times in a row 3D mark 06 -10 times in a row Prime95 - I started when I went to sleep at around 10PM and came home at 4PM and it was still running. I haven't done any memory tests yet though.
sailindawg Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Prime95 - I started when I went to sleep at around 10PM and came home at 4PM and it was still running. Was that run as a dual instance (one instance of P95 for each core) ?

deeselcyde Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 What are your idle/load temps
Kingfisher Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Welcome to the forums. As already stated, follow the OCDB rules and post the relevant screenshots. Posting anything else is pointless. I would find it very hard to believe you can get to 3 ghz stable at 1.3-1.4 volts. But hey, stranger things have happened in life. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your OCDB entry. Guest Haven Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 My idle temps are anywhere from 88F-96F My Load Temps are 96-110F (110F was the temperature when I came home after running prime95) As for the guy who asked about Alabama, I live in Daphne, which is on the Eastern Shore of Mobile. O and yes I did run 2 instances of Prime95, 1 for each core. Also I'm getting some water cooling soon, I wonder how far I could take it with lower temps.....
