young-joseph Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 Wish me luck guys. I'm going to compare benchmarks with my friends PC in a little bit. He is running a 2.8 P4 and againts my XP2500. I'm going to OC as far as I can, hope I don't burn up. I'll let you know how it turns out. Going to reboot and start pushing it till it wont boot. young-joseph Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 (edited) Highest OC I could get was 2.38ghz. System temps were actually a lot lower than I thought they would be. I'm going to download 3DMark03 while he is playing war craftIII. I want another benchmark to run besides Sandra  Edit.  Well, I beat him in drystone, but we didnt get to finish running 3Dmark03 since I killed my motherboard by not paying attention and rebooting while the bios was saving. But at least I still know i beat him in one test. Edited November 8, 2003 by young-joseph
Mercury Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 lol doh! well at least now you can buy a faster mobo eh
young-joseph Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 lol doh! well at least now you can buy a faster mobo eh  Only way to do that would be 64 bit. And that is $500-$1000 that I'm not willing to spend. I can buy a new bios chip for $16. But in the mean time I'm still using this as an excuse to build a second system. tomd11 Posted November 15, 2003 Posted November 15, 2003 Just remember giga hertz doesn't realy matter it's the fsb that means speed If you can't beat a p4 2.8 with an oc'd xp2500 shoot yourself   GA-7N400PRO2 2500 Barton 2- 512 sticks of Crucial pc3200 (dual channel) Aero 7+ cooler 10 multi / 220 fsb 2203 MHZ
FrozenFire Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 I seriously hope you are joking about the 2500xp beating hte 2.8c. no way in hell would you be able to do that unless the 2.8c wasn't OC'd or the person was missing one half of their brain. Â Yea you can get 2.2-2.4ghz range witha 2500, but FSB? If FSB matters, intel still wins ~~~~~DARK SIDE~~~~~~ w00t
savethedodobird Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Intel runs at a lot higher fsb than amd but dosnt go any faster. Amd will go faster with a lower clock speed than intel also.
TypicalSloan Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 no flaming cause i own both amd and intel, but "tell that to the benchmarks"
