Thasp Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Are future quad core opterons going to work in consumer motherboards the same way they did in socket 939, just unsupported? Or is it too early to tell? With any DFI BIOS after August 11th's for my DFI DAGF, even at stock speed with good temps, the computer turns off with the opteron. While I understand there are kinks using a server CPU with a consumer motherboard, it's still cool to get a 1 GHz overclock on a dual core without the "you have to have the one in a million special stepping" bull crap to do it. Angry_Games Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Opteron cpu's are not supported on desktop consumer boards. This has been answered many times. AMD does not allow it.
