Mr. Jules Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 what does increasing the volts to your chipset stabilize? I have been browsing through the 754 OC Database and see a lot of 1.8-1.9v on the chipset. I only have a passive Zalman cooler on mine so not sure how high I should be going without a fan, but curious what bumbing the it up a bit more might do for me. ps-I have to update my sig as well, I have ditched the X-Connect for an OCZ Powerstream
Maarek_Stele Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I might be wrong, but some time ago people only went above 1.7v with active cooling. Most do that to achieve higher HTT.
Mr. Jules Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 hmm... nobody knows for sure? I am not overclocking my ram yet but wasn't sure if the northbridge somehow helped to control that. I know that memory controler is "on die" which I assume means within the cpu itself so I guess I still wonder, what exactly does the northbridge control. I will do some more research to find an answer but hopefully someone can enlighten my feeble mind.
