Ultra-D w/7900GTO and SATA clearance?

Recommended Posts

Anyone with 1st hand experience putting a 7900GTO (9" long) on an Ultra -D and having clearance for all 4 Sata connections? Sata 3 & 4 look very iffy but does Sata 1 and/or 2 clear? Right now I'm only using the Sata1 on the gamming rig below.

Sorry Edit: that's an EVGA 7900GT with the GTX cooler (it's big!) ... don't know if MSI uses the same cooling solution ...

Are there right angle (90 degree) connectors that can be used? ... if so where do you get them?

Thanks in advance ... :)

Thanks guys! Now to fine tune the question. If I mount an EVGA 7900GT with stock HSF, not sure what the MSI stock HSF looks like ( google x) looks like Capt Proton is no longer stock ...?

On Sata connections 1 and 2 are you guys plugging straight in (without the 90 degree connector(s)) and the clearance is adequate? ... witch sata connection(s) are you using and are you using (needing) the angle connectors?

Probably have to use the 90 degree connector(s) on Sata 4 but what did you do about Sata 3? or did you just "Squeeze" it in there ((between the NB Fan) going the opposite way? ...

Looks like Capt Proton is running 4xSata drives and Loggan26 your running 2xSata drives ... at the moment I'm only needing 2 Sata connections on this rig, but newer optical drives will change that ...

Thanks again for your help and input ...:):)

Same as Playah both have near enough same setups, straight into Sata 1&2 but there is plenty of room for straight in on the Sata 3&4 as well, straight and strong and nothing fancy ;)........

So for others wondering about clearance between the sata ports and SLI on both the MSI and the EVGA 7900GTO's answer is no problem.
