nTune - is it useful ?

Recommended Posts

Over on the nVidia quad-sli forum one guy got his problems with lockups on game startup by running nTune.

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=20146

Can I get any feedback from you guys on nTune? Anybody used it?

It's supposed to tweak bios timings automatically and/or interactively without going into the bios. I don't know if it saves them or not. If I reboot and try to save current settings into a CMOS reload slot will they be the ones that nTune came up with?

thx

Personnaly I wouldn't use it for anything, especially making any changes outside of bios, just don't use it,potential disaster

From H_G

NEVER USE NTUNE ON DFI MOTHERBOARDS FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN TEMP MONITORING.

PERIOD

NEVER

EVER

NEVER USE IT TO ADJUST SETTINGS/OVERCLOCK

YOU WILL KILL YOUR MOTHERBOARD AND MORE THAN LIKELY YOUR CPU AND VIDEO AND POSSIBLY MEMORY

DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM

Well i'm new to the forum, and don't know H_G but his assertions are extreme, and not written in a way to make me take it seriously. It's not going to kill the motherboard, nor the memory, nor the cpu. If worse comes to worst I can clear cmos and start over.

H_G is the forum owner and DFI tech and actually the exact post was most emphatic in big bold red letters.

You have been warned,do as you will

It is strongly advised not to use it.

Period.

If the admin says something this strongly, I suggest that you take it seriously.

Hello,

You should not use the ntune software as it can cause serious/permanent damage to your hardware.

This means a CMOS reset will not help you in anyway.

For that reason you should avoid the software.
