hi. this is my first thread. my system is the one shown in my signature. i'm having serious problems trying to overclock it since i've replaced my 2 x 512 mb adata vitesta 4000 (tccd + brainpower) with 2 x 512 mb corsait 3200 c2 (tccd or tcc5). i can only get it working at 200 mhz with 3 3 3 8 at 2.7 v and 1t. i've tried 200 mhz with 2 2 2 6/7/8 or 2 3 3 6/7/8 and 250 with 2.5 3 3 6/7/8 or 2.5 4 4 6/7/8 at 2.6, 2.7 or 2.8 v and 1t. after less then an hour of memtest errors show up. with the vitesta (which i've sold) in my system i managed to obtain 200 mhz with 2 2 2 6 at 2.8 v and 1t or 266 mhz with 2.5 3 3 6 at 2.8 v and 1t. i've never test my system over 266 mhz. a friend of mine tested my corsair kit (which is revision 4.2, by the way) last weekend and he managed to squeeze 290 mhz out of them with 2.5 4 3 7 at 2.7 v and 1t on a lanparty nf4 ultra with a venice e3 3200. what to do? if someone has any ideeas or sugestions please talk to me. i really want to play fear ep in the weekend. i hope i'll have a stable system untill then. thanks.

no it does not have :) u need to buy a lanparty for 150/180 dividers ;)

for ur questions:

1. what ram slots to use for best oc performance in single (1 or 2 sticks) channel and dual channel?

2. could you recomend me a chipset cooler for my mobo?

3. besides the cooler did you change or add anything on your sli infinity mobo (heatsinks, etc)? i want to keep my mobo oc'ed 24/7 with at least a 266 fsb.

4. do you trust the temps shown by ite smartguardian?

1. i use the lower 2 one (closer to CPU), i forgot whether its the blue or black... but dual-channel (close to each other) for sure.

2. depends on whether u want to use SLI and what kind of cards u plan to do so (thus their heatsink size), i fully recommend the Jing-ting version 2. i have it installed, and it works great! (@1.7, never hit 40C) and totally silent too! search for it in performance-pc.com

3. yes, altho im not sure if it helps or not. i just like to keep everything cool :) the voltage mosfets left of the CPU socket, i add an old video card heatsink in there. it does get abit warm ;)

4. never. but after the newest official bios, Everest 3.0 seems to be reporting temps very close to my analog Diginurse temp probe....

thanks for the answers.

there is at least one bios for the sli infinity that has the 150 divider, 2006/03/01. i use it to oc my cpu to 2400 (266 x 9) with my ram working at 200 mhz (150 divider).

i tested my ram sticks individually. one of them can do 2.5 4 4 8 1t 2.9v only in slot 1 and the other can do 2.5 4 4 8 1t 2.9v in slot 1 and 2. when i put them in dual channel in slot 1 and 2 the system is not stable. what should i do to make them work in dual channel at the same settings? increasing the cpu or chipset voltage can help me out? i'm using 1.5 v for my cpu (266 x 9) but the standard 1.5 v for the chipset. i don't want to switch to 2t. at least for now ...

i know that there is no such thing as a best bios for oc but what bios (maybe an older one) should i try first for better oc results with my tccx?

squeezing 250+ on TCCD is quite an achievement wit the INF boards. i would suggest u running it on a lower multiplier as it has minimal effect on games (if thats the only thing u do). running at 200mhz fsb is good enough and anything higher will require 50% DQ strength reduction and lvl 4 or lower on the ...other settings... i forgot lol

i recommend the newest official BIOS as it has more options in there to play around for DRAM settings.. as for compatibility, i found no optimization between them for the INF boards....

your aim should be highest CPU frequency period. u can even sacrifice some DRAM frequency too (if u can get it as high as 250, 233 or less is fine, just dont go below 200).

i use my chipset voltage at 1.6 as it fluctuatest to about 1.5ish, but not 1.7 coz it doesnt flcuate as much (keeps steady around 1.69 to 1.72), but thats my board, urs may vary.

u can definitely keep 1T instead of 2T on those Corsairs.

dual channel slots? try the black slots.

last but not least, dont use memtest. others may say differently, but IMO memtest is way way WAYYY too sensitive. ive gotten around 1000 errors in memtest one some past overclocking BUT 0 errors in prime95 blend test, both for 24hours, and not a single crash..... ever.
