l3ruce Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 So I purchased these computer parts listed in my sig, and am totally stumped. I've been through the whole of the 'Initial Build' thread multiple times. It just refuses to boot. I can only get the first diagnostic LED to drop, indicating ram is the issue, but I've tried 6 different sticks of ram. I'm at my wits end. Please, someone, anyone, save my sanity. red930 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 All 4 power connectors plugged in? Even if they are, make sure they're tight. Make sure to try the slots furthest away from the cpu on any ram you're trying, what all do you have to play with?
tasr Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Did you use this setup guide? NF4 LanParty - initial build w/pictures. Try a CMOS clear. If a normal CMOS clear does not work for you, try a clear like this and follow it exactly.
l3ruce Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I followed the initial build exactly as it was written. I'm 99% sure that the power connectors are tight enough. I'm doing a CMOS clear now.
ISSA2000 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 is it the ram or the video card etc... ????
tasr Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I followed the initial build exactly as it was written. That is a good thing and it's still out of the case, right?

red930 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Look in the Stock Speed Database for someone that posted with the same type of MB, CPU and RAM. Try their settings. Orange slots work best for that RAM.

l3ruce Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I don't think he can see the BIOS:confused: Yeah, I can't get into the BIOS. Well, I finished with the short CMOS clears and am doing an 8 hour now. Considering I'm going to bed soon I might just let it go for the full 24 just to get it done. If the CMOS doesn't work is there anything else it could be, or do i just shoot it?

Kingfisher Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 While you are doing the CMOS clear, you did unplug the power supply from the wall socket and flipped the rocker switch off on the power supply?
