Opty 170 Multi Higher Than 10x?

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question. My default Multi on my processor is 10. In the bios, I can only go lower than 10x ... is there a way to have it higher than 10?

Also, is there any sort of advantage to lowering the Multi and cranking the FSB? BIOS say I can go up to 550 FSB. For example, would 8*325 be better than 10*260 to achieve 2600?

Nope, can't go higher than 10x on a 170.

And having a higher FSB really doesn't gain you anything, unless you can pull more ram speed on a different divider out of it. Honestly you probably wouldn't notice the difference though.

test it....run benchies at either speed then you tell us...;)

I gained a little more at higher FSB but not alot...I gained more in memory bandwidth than anything...

Just keep in mind that higher CPU speed outweighs higher RAM speed. So if that means putting your RAM on a divider to obtain a higher CPU clock then go for it.
