brylax23 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Ok, my computer has been randomly rebooting about 1-2 after booting into windows. sometimes even sooner. I took out 2 sticks (I have 4x515mb) out of my memory and it still ramdonly shuts now. Now I only put 512mb and it works fine! I have been running memtest indivdually and each stick is error free. So what could be my problem? MY PSU? I have a good PSU OCZ Powerstream
Gipse Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Are all sticks from the same brand/same IC´s? Try to run memtest with 2 sticks in dual channel mode (test #5 + #8 for 10 runs for "quick testing). Gipse
tasr Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 What kind of stability testing have you done? Have done a blend test with Prime95? Are all four (4) power connectors plugged in? If you’re overclocking lower it a tad and see if that helps.
brylax23 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 No they are not the same brand one. 1 gb is OCZ Platnium 1 gb is Corsairs. Can you explain IC's im not sure are they like IRQ? I cant do Prime95 because it wont stay in windows for it long enough. and im not overclocking ne thing. its because sometimes when i plug in my floppy drive it increases the amount of time my computer will stay on?! its so wierd idk
tasr Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Well running 4x512 modules of even matched sets can be very difficult. Do your self a favor sell those 512mb RAM and get 2x1GB. Then you can run CPC 1T.
brylax23 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 OK i just did the cosairs in dual channel mode in memtest and got over like 556 errors in the matter of 30 mins..idk what to do now..change timings idk
brylax23 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 the errors from test #5 and #7.. no other errors in the other tests
davidk21770 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 You should get no errors at all no matter how long you run (I run overnight -- at least 8 hours). One error is too many. I'd try the OCZ Then I'd checking the stock speed database for setups with the same memory and try their settings. (http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=38) And, OCZ has a great forum -- you can ask there for settings. brylax23 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 ok. after more testing i can not get my video to my screen to show at all if i have 2 of my 512 stick of OCZ ram in. brylax23 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 i can only get my video input when using a single stick of ram. idk y but if i use 2 of 512mb it wont give me any video input. what could be causing this crap

davidk21770 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Did you follow the build page? http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20832 Have you tried a CMOS clear (like this)? http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...04&postcount=24 I'd start with at least 10-15 minutes. (I've seen this clear up more than one set of memory problems). Do not use any saved settings! Load optimized defaults, save, reboot and set then set the paramters. (You cold also try fail-safe defaults and then tweak 'em up if they're stable). Have you checked the stock speed database and tried parameters others are running? http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=38 Have you tried reloading your CMOS. Remember that DFI boards are built for people who push the envelope. Their defaults are very agressive -- maybe too agressive a starting point for your system. You may need to back off. You can use a64info (my preference) or a64tweaker to see what the "auto" memory settings are as a starting point for tweaking.
