superorca Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 So I was working in Windows XP SP2, went into Knoppix 3.9 for a bit, logged onto the internet, rebooted into Windows, and my "nVidia nForce Networking Controller" keeps connecting/disconnecting from the network (like every half second). The light is a steady flash. My bottom ethernet port works fine, which is how I'm typing this right now, but I'm still wondering if there's a known problem with the nVidia ethernet port on the Expert. Any ideas? Robc1880 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 might want to try using search. Maybe try key words like nvidia and duplex
superorca Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Tried many of the suggestions, including BIOS settings, disable/enable device, reinstall drivers, but what happens is that it freezes during uninstall and install for drivers, so it's probably stuck between being installed and uninstalled now. None of the BIOS settings worked. Yes, I know my Marvell still works fine, and I'll continue to use it for awhile, but it pisses me off that i spend $180 on a top of the line mobo, I already had to RMA it once, and now something else is broken. I'd stay up later but I have to get up for work in six hours and need the sleep since I was sick this past weekend. Just curious, are there any ways to manually remove drivers for the nVidia ethernet port?
Robc1880 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 try setting the port for full duplex and see if that helps
Kingfisher Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 You can uninstall the nvidia ethernet drivers by using add/remove programs. Have you tried looking for a driver update?
yfital Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 from what i rememeber (as how to fix), you have to uninstall it (i suggest uninstalling all of the nv stuff), disable in bios, load into windows, be sure nothing is still there, run some crap cleaners, enable in bios, reinstall. if you cannot uninstall, then i suggest a fresh windows, or using a system restore, or trying doing it from safe mode. superorca Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 So I've been at work all morning without much to do, so I've been googling for the past 3 hours and have found that it's just something with nVidia Ethernet Ports in the nForce4 family. Makes me feel better that it's not my DFI board. Am going to try the 6.86 drivers to see if that works. Thanks for your guys' help - I'll let you know what happens.
