NF4 Ultra-D needs RMA

Recommended Posts

Greetings everyone,

I purchased my DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D on newegg.com on 6-25-2006, it ran very well for almost 60 days, but its north bridge temps were higher normal (45-50 degrees C) then it developed polygon breakup on the in game shadows while playing DDO and the northbridge temp spiked over 60 degrees. I stopped the system, open the side and looked for problems, and placed an external fan pointed towards the NB.

From this point on the system would no longer POST, no beeps, 4 red LEDs. I removed the NB fan and replaced it with a copper Vantec CCB-A1C and did a full close inspection for popped caps or other damage. I replaced the NB cooler because I was concerned that the DFI cooler was making contact with my graphics card, or that the two were transferring heat to each other..

So then it was on to trouble shooting, I tested all components in a working DFI system one of my friends bought with my recommendation. All components except the motherboard work perfectly. We also transferred his part onto my motherboard, same results, it would spin up the fans, no POST, no video, 4 red LEDs.

How do I go about getting this board fixed or replaced? Will it be a problem that I replaced the NB? I dont have the original NB fan anymore since removing it broke it.

Thank you in advance for any assistance,

Thanks everyone, I have been issued an RMA and will be shipping the motherboard in on monday. Donna at the US-DFI/rma office was very professional and helpful.

I will check back in with updates as they occur.
