Good Cpu Cooling?

Hi:

I have a P4 2.4Ghz, and I was wondering if anybody knows a good cooling heatsink and fan for my P4. I like the Volcano series, but it seems that they are only for Athlon's ...

Thx

Rick

Here this is a Heatpipe Heatsink from nPower Tek (TTIC)... it's for P4's, (I'd like the AMD version, with the next upgrade) in the top 10 ratings, it performs just under the SLK-900... with about half the noise! :)

Ambient 50W 100W Fan noise

Thermalright (high) SLK-900U 20.0 31.6 40.5 very loud

nPowertek NPH-1 22.1 34.3 45.4 med

JMC 401100 19.5 35.1 47.4 med

Zalman CNPS7000-Cu 21.0 35.1 48.7 low

I've been thinking about getting this set up but was wondering how LOUD would the tornado be turned down to 7v. Since I've read nothing but post like..." just installed my tornado, now I'm deaf"...so any idea what kind of cfm, dba, it would make would be great.

supra- the probes are off my mobo so I don't know if they are the "case temps", but I have an "ambient temperature probe" on my video card and its about 2 degrees higher than the system temperature...

maximo- My delta is super loud. I have to turn the t.v. volume up, computer speakers up, and on top of my 92mm 123 cfm delta hsf, I also have an 80mm tornado fan for exhaust, and a 120mm 125cfm ystech for the side panel. All 3 fans put out the most cfms, as well as dba ofcourse. I did a search on google when i purchased it and one site was real helpful becaue they tested each fan on the hs, showing the diff't results. Can't remember what site it was...

I usually have a case temp of 28 C, should i be worried if i want to do some serious overclocking?

I also have a cpu temp of 40-41 C idle and 51 C when I'm running folding@home. Does the case temp have anything to do with such high temps?

Thx

nah, case temp tells you more about circulation than anything else, although a 12-14C difference between case and processor temps is a bit unusual.... What HSF are you using? What thermal compound? How long has it been on? Is your HSF seated correctly? It seems like your case temps are low, so I'm asking to be sure that everything is correct with your processor temps.

I have stock cooling, with a thermal grease I got from the same place where I got the chip ...
