Darkorb Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 put ur AMD vs. INTEL benchmarks up, how much higher FPS u getting between the 2 setups?
CharmedLover84 Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 My highest on the AMD setup I think was 150ish with SLI 8800GTXs, with this I hit 200. Not a huge difference but then again, the only REAL difference is slightly faster processor speed and 16x lanes instead of 8, cuz FEAR only uses 1 or 2 CPU cores at most. I'll post exact numbers and such when I'm not busy doing an OCDB Entry cuz 3.666GHz just tested Prime 95 stable for 17 hours
Guest Gir Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 "virtual memory paging file is turned on, which will severely degrade your performance." so having a virtual memory paging file is bad. so i should tun mine off instead of having given it 4gb
CharmedLover84 Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I made that arguement once... and people got on me for it LOL In my honest opinion having your PF turned on is BAD for gaming, yes.
Guest element Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I'll post some numbers once I have a 8800GTS and my Opteron running at 3.0GHz.
CharmedLover84 Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Well, my Opty 185 @ 3Gs with SLI 8800GTXs got 49min-128avg-316max @ 625x980 on the cards. I just tested it at those speeds on this thing at 3.666GHz and got 195FPS average. Single 8800GTX with the Opty got 52min, 123avg, 288max. I haven't tested single card on this system since I was clocked at 3Gs even. At 1920x1200 on SLI and the Opty it got 115FPS average. With this processor, I'm getting around 160FPS average I believe. So the frame rate increase from a 3.0GHz Opteron to a 3.666GHz Quad is noticable, despite FEAR not being a dual or quad core optimized game. Probably the increase is mostly due to the difference in processor performance and speed.
Thraxz Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 My Fear 8x tests have blown goats. To the tune of, what my X1900XTX did. Laaame.
CharmedLover84 Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 You think that's bad, turn on 16x, you'll be like =-O at the crappy frame rates LMAO
Darkorb Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 here is mine AMD Athlon X2 3800+ @ 2.4ghz (240x10), 4x512mb Kingston 3-3-3-8 , Asus A8N-SLI SE, EVGA 8800gts 640mb Superclocked 576/1700 26 - 45 - 72 i checked, the res it ran at was 1024x768
CharmedLover84 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 VSync must be on, no way did a 8800GTS score that crappy without VSync being on.
Thraxz Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Even WITH vsync on that's really really low? Vista?

I'm trying to piece together the point of bottleneck at max drivers settings for Core 2 architectures on SLI GTXs. I'd do it myself... but I don't have A GTX let alone two to SLI.
