So I went with upgrading my 4400 to the 4800. I had another few other reasons, I had orinally bought a 4400X2 with a weak core on it (when I started O/Cing after joining DFI-streets) and the weak core stopped O/Cing quite a bit (perfectly fine at stock setting), along with my G.Skill ain't that great either. I will be turning in the G.Skill for a warranty replacement as they don't even do 'stock' speeds. So, this will carry me over for another year, and I'll shop around for good prices my list above. I think the 4800 will O/C to 2.8 or better, and should make me even happier than with my 4400 (I have no complaints really, runs BF2 and everything else I do with it). This way I will save up some cash along the way (and still be happy). I will be ebaying the 4400 to recoup some cost (over 600 bucks for that bad boy when new). Anyways, I wanted to post this deal for ya, as it doesn't show up on the front page of new egg unless you search for processors. Remember, no fan included, 939. The AM2 OEM verison is also on sale for same price. OK, just installed the 4800, stock 2411Mhz, was able to O/C to 2605Mhz. A bit more than my 4400 that was stock 2200, o/c'd to 2359Mhz because I had a weak core in it. Now, next on the list is getting my G.skill RMA'd as it has never been able to get past stock timings of 235Mhz instead of SPD value of 250Mhz. Many have gotten alot more than 250Mhz. Hopefully, I'm going to RMA the memory before Nov 22, and get it back by the 10th Of Dec, as I'll be on vacation. It would be nice to get 260Mhz and go 1to1 on the memory settings and change my cpu clock/multi to 260x10. Such is life. All you guys that are getting 2.8/2.9/3.0Mhz, consider yourselves lucky that you got the steppings and memory to do that. I'll take the E6600 adventure next year, can't afford it this year. BuddTX Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 While I am very happy with my 4800+ Toledo (Stable at 2811, and I am currently running it at 2850, and while there have been no problems, I will not call it "stable" yet, I want to run Memtest86 and PRime95 for at least 12 hours each, then I will call it stable), from reading dfi-street.com, it seems that there are better chips (Opty 165 and others) that cost less, and will actually OC better than the 4800. I just bought and installed a 700W PS, and am going to start OC'ing from scratch, and see if I can get any better results! I am going to follow the OC guide this time, I "stole" my base 4800+ settings from another post: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...&highlight=4800 They worked pretty good, but I want to start from scratch.
