Mr.Grim Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 (edited) I have windows xp pro and i wanted to set up my hibernation so i go to control panel > Power options and theres only 3 tabs. Power Schemes, Advaned and UPS. One site said that if there is no hibernate tab my hardware doesnt support it, but thats BS because in 2k pro i did hibernate all the time. Anyone know whats goin on? btw, that "Dispapeard" at the top is supposed to be "Disapeared" Edited November 3, 2003 by Mr.Grim

Hades25 Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 Assuming that setting is okay, and no one has made changes to the system BIOS, there are other possibilities. According to Microsoft KB article 306676if you haven't installed Service Pack 1, your computer won't be able to stand by or hibernate when you have a 3D screensaver set. Other resources mention video driver problems causing conflicts with standby and hibernation modes (try uninstalling and reinstalling the video drivers), and you might also try turning off advanced graphics effects (such as fade effects, menu shadows, etc.). In order to have problems with Hibernate... he has to be able to enable Hibernation first. <_< Mr.Grim, it may be called "Power Management" or something else inside the BIOS. Check the motherborad manual.

Mr.Grim Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 (edited) Well i reinstalled service pack one, got rid of my screen saver and turned the "eye candy" off but all that did was undew all my preferances Ill look in bios for other things. Well i looked alll over and found nothing. I looked atg everything that was set to disabled. I enabled the stuff that i thought might work but no luck. I dont know why my bios would have changed, the only thing i ever do in it is change my boot sequance every now and then. Dr_Frankenstein Posted November 12, 2003 Posted November 12, 2003 have you looked in the bios for something that lets you change the settings for your power there is S1 S2 and S3 power modes i think that has something to do with it
