MadMan Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 I just had probably the most strangest thing happen to me with my comp. I had turned up my fsb to 118. Which would put my comp at 2.36ghz. Everything was fine until I needed to boot up Windows. The computer says there was a file missing. I rebooted...same thing...When I turned the comp down back to 115 2.3ghz...my comp started right up! Any input on this would be appreciated. I also tried to lower timings on memory...nothing changed.
Guest Trios Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 You're probably running your IDE channels too fast and your hard drive can't take it. Does that MB allow you to lock the BUS speeds for other peripherals? If so, try it. Trios

Will Smith Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 Intel lovers listen up. two reasons this could be happening. 1. AGP/PCI/IDE isn't locked at 66/33/100 (yes I do mean IDE some mobos have a lock on the IDE settings) 2. CPU voltage is not high enough Both of these reasons will cause what you have. try the first if not the second. 95% of the time these are the issues. MadMan Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 Nope...I locked them at 66/33 still error came up when upping to 118...117 would boot but freeze up in windows...116 windows came up but stuck at start screen...115 runs perfect..Anyways I bought a new proc off ebay...2.66ghz should be here in a week paid through paypal and also got a pretty good deal...157. I will OC that and sell this proc on ebay.
