darkerick Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 (edited) I took out my 92mm fan that I had on my thermalright sp-94 and put on an 80mm fan. Im running 1 degree cooler with it. But my system temp went up to 33 as well as my power supply temp. Ive decided not to overclock. My luck with icing is not good. So Im not going to do it anymore. I thinking it could be my hardware Doctor. In the BIOS, im always like 5 or 6 degrees higher than what it says in the hardware Doctor Program. Does this sound right: All this is idle System temperature------------------------------------ 31-34 CPU temp-----------------------------------------------39.5-41 PWM-----------------------------------------------------31 Edited November 2, 2003 by darkerick
MadMan Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 (edited) Could the 80mm fan be stronger...This I mean does it push more air out than the 92mm? As for the other temps rising...confused but stick with the 80mm if the proc is cooler and try and fix air flow to bring down the other temps. As for your temps in your bios....They will be higher than they will be in Windows. Mine read sometime 44-46 in bios but when I idle in windows my temps drop to 40c idle. Btw just wondering what is PWM? Edited November 2, 2003 by MadMan
darkerick Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 (edited) its the power supply temp. I just put back in the 92mm and Im running at 38 degrees. So that 92 is better. Now I overclocked my front side bus to 233 with a 1:1 ratio. My Vcore is 1.75 or something like that. My vdimm=2.8. Now Im running at 43.5-46 idle. Any suggestions?? O(V)eGA_l2el) Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 Exactly, I would clean your case if the wiring is messy as well as leave side panel off it that decreases temps and make sure your HSF are installed securely. What type of thermal compound are you using?
darkerick Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 (edited) im using artic silver 5. I know its crappy but i dont have that much money. My experience with AS5 is 44 idle and 60 load. (And with a thermalright sp-94)!!!. I just ran Si Sandra CPU benchmark. And my temps went to 65 degrees!!! Will Smith Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 the 80mm can keep it cooler than the 92mm. most of the heat on a Heatsink atleast for a cpu is loacated in the middle of the cpu(or the core). when a fan blows down it puts out a circle of air and doesn't really hit the center as well as the sides. This is cause the blades on a fan don't go all the way to the middle of it. An 80mm fan will focus in closer to the center of the core where most of the heat is. That could be what the problem is. Nuclear Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 I just noticed something...maybe it's just me but...Your running a vcore of 1.75V on a P4 and expecting no problems with heat? Most guys stay away from that high of a vcore, try backing down the vcore or return everything to stock and work from there. You must be having one hell of an OC to need that high of a vcore. AYoKoNA Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 (edited) DarkErick... did you read this post that nuclear posted. VERY KEY POINTS. You should stick to your old post b4 creating a new one. Edit: Almost 100% sure that is your problem, the mounting plate! http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.p...30entry117555 Edited November 3, 2003 by AYoKoNA
Nuclear Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 Thanks Akoyona, I'm seeing like 5 threads alone jut on the same subject. I thought about the mounting plate thing while I was looking at it last night...as much trouble as he had getting the stock P4 mount off, I can only imagine howthe plate went in.
