Kilamon Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Oct 27th: Etiquette To me, etiquette is something that is sorely lacking in these modern days of email, cell phones and other devices. The increase in speed for communication seems to have been followed by the immediate breakdown of any rules wherein you send a thank you card, open a door for a lady, or announce yourself when calling on the phone. In addition, the poor grammer and spelling as well as new acronyms and nonwords such as 'gr8' contribute to the lack of respect in today's society. It is my belief that this poor etiquette and resultant falling attitudes will be the downfall of civilization. For more etiquette, and a fun read, I suggest reviewing Miss Manners. DuTcH Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 As I have etiquette I will not mention my grandfathers blocked prota-kollan in front of a lady! lol
DuTcH Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 -Four hundred years ago, a quixotic person was a chivalrous gentleman engaged in righting wrongs, a la Don Quixote. In the 21st century, it's more likely to be a porn star trying to break into politics: crazy world, find it amazing the how are language changes so much, her quixotic gubernatorial campaign against Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2003..."-from Washingtonpost.com some definite scrabble winners today momma, I can just imagine Arnie saying " I am t-800 gubernator, and I have been sent back in time to govern you" great words I'll try and fit them into every conversation today. shatteredsteel Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I think people are too conservative when it comes to halloween, and to be quite honest I think they should lighten up and try to have fun with it. (Sorry had to blow off some steam after being called a sinner for celebrating halloween)
DuTcH Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 strange that halloween is more popular over in there than here in the UK as it started over here guess where just too conservative (Sorry had to blow off some steam after being called a sinner for celebrating halloween) harsh, but true you pagan, lol
red930 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I have never, ever, not even once, gone trick-or-treating on Halloween. And you ARE a sinner for celebrating Halloween. Everyone knows that having a good time is a sin. Fun is evil - remember that. Lol.

momma Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I think celebrating Halloween as a kid is totally cool and while I wouldn't call one a sinner for celebrating it, I think its absolutely silly that adults still dress up for it. We are adults now, give up the dream people! You can still steal candy from your kids though .
shatteredsteel Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I prefer to steal it from the nieghbors, or any other small defensless child I may meet on the street...j/k...don't hurt me!

I think I heard Jon Stewart say that its funny how John Kerry can lose an election even though he's not in it.
