MadMan Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 I am looking for a great watercooler for a P4 system. I have looked at DangerDen and a couple of others. Which is the best. I am looking to get at least 2.6 out of my computer. Specs are below.
Nuclear Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 I would definitely look into D-Tek's kit (D-Tek Website) Their kit is top-notch and uses the best componets out there. I'm using it on my P4 2.8 with no problems. Swiftech supposedly makes some good kits, but not having one, I can't give you my opinion on them. What case are you trying to put this in? Size is one of the biggest factors when finding a system. My D-Tek kit barely fit in my Chieftec Dragon.
MadMan Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 (edited) I have this all in a ThermalTake Xaser II, Window, 5 fans. I have enough room inside. I just checked D-Tek and their's cost $263 and that includes shipping...I might do that I have the money just need to wait a little while. I am also going to look at others. Nuclear Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 (edited) Yeah, I got my D-Tek kit with the TC-4 PolyTop and Ehiem 1250 pump for like $267 shipped 2nd Day. I've already switched and gonw with the WW block, but the TC-4 was great. If you feel like you have enough knowledge to do so, you may want to piece together your own kit. It will save you a few bucks, plus you can get all the parts from different kits you like. Oh yeah...I was running 7 (3 120MM) case fans + SP-94 w/ 92MM Tornado before I went H2O. My PC sounded like it was about to take off when I started up, now I can barely tell it's running and I've dropped down to 3 case fans. LobbDogg Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 I've got the same case as you, and what I did to fit my Dtek radiator in is put it right in the front of the case on the bottom where the intake fans are. I drilled out the bottom HDD holder, so I just have 1 HDD holder now. Fits nicely down there, and that way you can keep all of the components inside the case. And yeah my PC is quite silent as well, I took out 3 case fans, and of course a CPU fan by going to H20.
MadMan Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 Hmm, I might have to cut some metal to make that fit inside the case if you needed to. I would take out that whole thing but in the bottom bay, I have a 60GB hard drive. I could either get brackets for the HD to go into the bigger bay on top or remove part of the tray. darkerick Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 I took out the default heatsink mount on my Abit IC7 and I was wondering if there are any kits that have no requirment as far as the mount goes because its not there. I had to take it out for this thermalright sp-94, but that thing still gives me high temps!
Will Smith Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 WATER COOLING IS A WASTE OF MONEY ON THAT SYSTEM. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HIT 2.6-2.8 on AIR COOLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MadMan Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 Will if my temps don't go down my comp ain't going no where. Look at my other post. Temps are 44 idle. 55 load. I used Halo for a load game at 1024x768

I've had the TC-4 and WW block, neither of them required the P4 mount. Swiftech is the only company I know that uses the stock mount bracket for their block. Will Smith Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 something is wrong with your case either with intake and exhuast or something. That 7+ should be able to handle that fine. I mean I can take a 1.6A @ 2.7 on stock hsf and have no temp issues. I took my 2.4C with a v7+ ran that at 3.6ghz load temps maxed out at 45-48. Check your air flow..... I think that is where your problem is. That 2.0 should not be having temps that high.
MadMan Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 So far today I have gotten rid of any cables that were visible, and rotated the hsf 180 degrees and the idle is now at 40c. Motherboard temps are 30C. Room temp is 65F (whatever that is in C).
