jcstrauser21 Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 Okay, I read the guides, and finally overclocked a: P4 2.8 ghz 800 fsb p4p800 motherboard 1 gig dual channel kingston pc3200 standard fan and heatsink on cpu 2 80 mm fans front and back of case 1 fan outside case blowing on cpu So i set the memory ratio to 326 mhz or 4:3 i believe, set the ram frequencies to 2.5/4/4/8. Next i set some pci frequency setting to 66/33 and the vcore to its lowest - 1.52. I set the FSB to 235 which makes the cpu run at 3.29 ghz. So now my idle temps are good at as 25-30 degrees. When i run the Prim95 torture test, however, i get a hardware error within the first minute of testing. The max temperature i got on 3dmarks2003 was 47 degrees. Are these temperatures and error message damaging or mean anything? Any advice to help my overclocking experience would be greatly appreciated. AMDOCuser Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 No they aren't damaging, but it does mean you system isn't stable even though you were able to boot into windows with no problem. What is holding you back is you stock HSF. get yourself a good copper heatsink and a high CFM fan, and then you could go higher.... but don't forget to loosen up on your timing when you do raise the system bus.
