And you know what the temps are idle?? 40.5 freaking degrees. I havent even seen load yet!! I dont wanna!! Any suggestions to lower the temps??I applied a thin layer of Artic Silver 5 And I seated the heatsink on very hard and firm. Torx Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 maybe you put too much compound on... Â but probably its because of poor circulation or you didn't mount it properly.
O(V)eGA_l2el) Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 After testing you may want to leave the side panel off, if your room is cool.
kobalt Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 If you've seen the review on as-5 it says it needs a couple of hundred hours to settle that's why i'm sticking to ceramique

Nuclear Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 I would take it out, clean the heatsink and CPU really good, and then re-apply the AS5 and seat your heatsink. A good method I have found for the AS5, as per AS directions, is like this: Â - Don't try and smear / wipe the AS5 in a thin layer on the CPU. Apply a very small bit, about the size of a grain of rice, and then seat and tighten your heatsink. This way, the AS5 is spread evenly by the heatsink's pressure. This method works really well, and it's the easiest when dealing with thick AS5. Â Try that and let us know how it works. Also...what are your case temps? Pizoi Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 Clean it with ethyl alcohol, 70% or higher. Ethyl doesn't leave any residue behind unlike some others.
AYoKoNA Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 just take a cotton swab or tissue, dip it in rubbing alcohol, and clean the silver plate thats over your p4 processor.
darkerick Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 I cleaned everything. I slammed it onto the processor with smered (thin) Layer of artic silver 5, let it sit for a few hours. And as soon as I turned it on, I overclocked to FSB 233 and its running idle right now at 40.5. That is hotter than hottest!! I still cant figure this out??
