Spaz-Ed Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Just saved the modded BIOS, which added 1.5v to the voltage table. Now, only thing I have to do is flash the video card. Can this be done within windows? Hooking up a floppy drive is a pain in the butt!!! I hate that BS, 8-track player for computers. Thanks in advance
225Slant6 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Not that I have heard of, best to do it with a floppy drive. Here is a good guide: http://www.planetamd64.com/lofiversion/index.php/t15247.html
Spaz-Ed Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Thanks for the guide. But I used this one to mod the BIOS. http://www.aoaforums.com/frontpage/content/view/1190/30/ Looks like I will have to use a floppy drive. It is just a pain because of the way the FDD connector is, and there is no room to work with. Thanks,
225Slant6 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Yeah no way around the floppy drive, its a pain. Good luck with flashing the BIOS.
Spaz-Ed Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Thanks. I think I just went through 10 floppies, until one was okay to copy the files, and to make it bootable. That makes me worry. I threw them at the wall, and watched them break apart. Who says you can't have fun doing this? I will see how it goes. King_Kevin Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Don't know if those commands from that website will work. But I used this just in case you needed. http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?showtopic=15247 I just did the biosmod last night. Everything went find. But getting artifact at 505/1150 using CoH performance test. Going to try 500/1100 to see if it's stable. Not much gain for me besides being able to overclock above slighly 500 where as before i could only reach about 480. Took me 2 hours to figure out that i needed to enable USB keyboard in the bios to enable me to type in ms-dos. But i could press 'Del' at startup to enter bios? What gives man? Weird... Warmest regards.
A6437 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 I did it and i was able to hit 550 max and 530 without artifacts
Spaz-Ed Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Just did it, went from 1.4v to 1.5v, and here is what happened: Before mod: core=464, mem=1.12 After mod: core=495, mem=1.168 My temps are still good, and didn't go up hardly at all. I use an Arctic Silencer VGA cooler. Is 1.6 volts safe? The only thing I changed in the bios was adding the 1.5v option. Is there something I forgot? My benchmarks went up just a very little bit, kinda was expecting more. Thanks,
225Slant6 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 No you didn't forget anything, it not a huge performance boost, but it helps.
Franzkefka Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 My temps are still good, and didn't go up hardly at all. I use an Arctic Silencer VGA cooler. Is 1.6 volts safe? Thanks, What do you mean is 1.6 safe? you can only add .1v to GPU volts that way, so if it was at 1.4 and you went to 1.5 thats it if you want 1.6 be prepared to get out your multimeter and Soldering iron and a big set of |[email protected]!!$ because thats the only way to go to 1.6v or higher and no i dont suggest running anything better than 1.5v with out better than stock cooling, preferably water cooled
Spaz-Ed Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 That is cool, I am happy getting the core to 1.5v. If I was to go higher, and had to go through that much trouble, it would be best just to get a new card. Anyway, isn't there some kind of mod that can be done for the memory?
