Daddyjaxx Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 You can never have 16x on the bottom slot or both slots. 8x and 8x is the best there is. If you want dual 16x, you have to go to ASUS or Abit.
sswilson Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Rgr. Don't really need it, and doubt I'll ever bother with sli. I was just wondering if the sli mod would be worth it even though I'll only be running 1 card. Thanks
wevsspot Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 No need to perform the SLi mod and risk boogering something up if you don't plan on ever running SLi.
Guest InFeKtioN Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 No need to perform the SLi mod and risk boogering something up if you don't plan on ever running SLi. No doubt about that ...... "if its not broke, dont fix it" especially when there is NO performance gain.
p0tter Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Not really important, but does anybody know if the "sli mod" enables 16X on both slots or is it still stuck at 8X? Nope, 2nd slot will remain 8x with SLI mod done and jumpers in SLI mode.
suicidalsanta Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 so i ran 3dmark05 again now with my correct PCI slot settings. I went from 6950 to 8990. Nice to see that the correct PCI settings gets you 2,000 extra points. One thing i noticed though. During the CPU test of 3dmark my FPS are well under 10. Is this what it should be? Thanks, Kyle
sswilson Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 That does sound low...... Are you talking about the reported fps or what you see while it's running? Here's my latest with the 3700 (not positive, but I'm pretty sure your 165 should be posting better #s than it) http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4961861 Heh... just noticed you were talking `05. Thought those #'s were kinda low.... mine gets 3 fps. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2217185
Doomz Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 The CPU test is meant to go really slow. Its done with software instead of your GFX cards features.
Nehil Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Actually the CPU renders in those tests, and today CPU's aren't optimized for that kind of stuff (drawing triangels and such) so instead we have GPU's, which wasen't the case around 10 years ago. So getting 1-2FPS in the CPU test is nothing to worry about.
