SiSoft Sandra crashes

Recommended Posts

I just built this rig and thanks to help and advice from these forums my build went without a single hitch. I ran prime for about 8 hours without an error or warning and 3Dmark runs flawlessly. Games have no issues aside from the occasional WoW crash which I suspect is due to the fact that I never reinstalled the game and just copied the startup exe to the desktop from my /d drive. Had to attend a raid. But I plan to re-install once I get back home from this trip.

The only issue I come across is when I try to run a mainboard scan on SiSoft Sandra the computer just shuts itself off. Very odd considering that it is prime stable and 3D applications have zero issues. Is there a problem with Sandra on these boards? I updated the processor drivers and I am using the mainboard drivers that came with the board. Now I know I should be using the latest Nvidia drivers for this board but when I go to the site there are so many drivers to choose from for an AMD/nvidia/SLI platform and I am afraid to DL and install the wrong ones. I tried to look up the exact chipset for this board but it seems to be very vague compared to downloadable options. Could this be the culprit?

Anyway, driver recommendations would be greatly appreciate as well as responses as to why Sandra craps my system out. Thank you.

P.S. - These are the exact bios setting I am using since happygames listed them on the stability section: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27308

When you ran prime you did run 2 instances one for each core. Have heard of some problems with sandra work fine for me though. If your running 32bit XP here is the mobo drivers:http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_win2k_6.86.html

I didn't know that I had to run one for each core. Very interesting. Is it as simple as opening up 2 instances of prime and running the stress test on each one or is there a particular seting for dual core processors?

Thank you for the link and I am running 32bit windows. I know this seems very nubbish but it's been well over a year since my last build and I haven't been keeping up with the latest trends in the tech world.

try need to turn off before runing info.

In options disable "Include DMI/SMBIOS"

The expert will crash when the SMBUS is scanned. Speedfan causes the same problem

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been having the same issues guys...Speedfan and Sandra both cause the system to shut down. I need to know if there's a BIOS option or something I can do in general to stop this from happening.

I agree with the comment that when the SMBus is scanned the system crashes...but I'd like to get speedfan working so I can have ongoing cpu temp monitoring in the system tray while folding.
