Guest Trios Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 (edited) Well, I bought this chip before I found out that the 2000+ (A7N8X-X mobo) is really not a very good chip for OCing. However, being the good sport that I am, I decided to go ahead and give my CPU a chance at being a star! I am currently running at 178X10.5, or 1869 MHz (199 MHz overclock). Unfortunately, due to the fact that I am a moron and bought PC2100 RAM, I had to limit that down to about 142 MHz, so they aren't nearly in sync. Here's my mbm5 screenshot after almost an hour on load... As you can tell, I am at top voltage in the BIOS (1.85) and it maxes out at a full .1v above that, so I'm pretty sure that even with better cooling I can't OC this baby any farther MHz wise. So...my question is. Should I keep my OC the way it is, and just get some better memory when I get a chance? Or should I try to keep the FSB in sync with the RAM frequency and go for a pin/socket mod to get to the higher multipliers...? entrancer0122 Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 See my sig and read my other posts. That voltage is a lil high for 144 FSB. Im rocking between 1.65 and 1.7 for 166. Oh and go get some 2700 at least.

Dignan Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 I might lower the FSB and up the multi to 12.5, there is so much lost potential in the RAM. The closer to sync it gets the better. what kind of RAM is it? possibly in the market for some 2100...possibly.

All I know is that when I bought it from mwave, I went with the upgrade from Generic to Kingston. Exactly what kind of RAM it is...I am uncertain. However, I would definately have enough money for new RAM if someone bought this stick off me... Trios
