GmAz Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 Ok, last night I was watchign TV and my computer was just idleing here. I happento see it in the corner of my eye flash a blue screen of death and reboot. Ok, its overclocked qutie a bit, but then as I looked at my exos on my case, the LED meter was off and so was the two lights showing it had power and was working right. Well, I jump up, switch the sucker off, and open my case to feel the heat radiating from within. I touched my waterblock and crap it was hot. After a few minutes of trying to figure out what happened, I finally found out that the power power connecter was not in my exos anymore, the crap thing fell out. What gives, the sucker was tight in there. Anywho, when I first switched it on, it read 62 C and shut itself off again. bout five minutes later, it was cool and turned on fine. Man, that pissed me off. If anything was fried, Koolance was gonna get one pissed off guy callin them up. Well, that was my horror. Anyone else have any terror stories of the sort? Ziggy54354 Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 one time my smartfan wasnt plugged in correctly, but thanks to the size of the slk-800 i was able to keep it running for a few minutes before i noticed anything.. then i quickly hit the power button as fast as i could and reconnected the smartfan. Dignan Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 Koolance is based in Federal Way, the city I live in and I have talked to the techs there and they have had some issues with that, but for the most part the MB will shut the comp down to keep it from burning up. That being said I doubt that there are any lasting issues.
dino-new Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 O.K. first off, reading some of these posts have been kinda funny, not to laugh at your expense. Anyways it sounds like it could be a pump vibration issue. You might want to secure it somehow.
GmAz Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 I was thinking the smae thing. the pump however i sno wher near the molex slot. it is in the opposite corner, but it might be the fans cooling the radiator. Anywho, it has a ziptie on it now. that sucker isn't fallin out again.
MJ0588 Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 once after switching processors on a friends computer, he forgot to screw the hsf to his heatsink. When we turned it on the thing fell off and was dangling by its cord a few centimeters from his 9800, probly wouldnt of hurt it but still, scary
Mist Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 my sis had a p3 hp well after a long and awful life (i did say hp) the case fan died. Well id replaced the orginal 633 with a 1 gig p3 but it only ran at 766 or something but there was only a heatsink. Anyways the cpu is now sitting on my desk and the rest of the comp is worthless. Whole thing got wrecked including the hd because it was too hot and there was no shutdown in the bios.
