azndragon328 Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 hi im new to ocing so, i need step by step direction on how to oc my barton 2600, my setup is a Amd barton 2600 w/ a soyo kt600 mb and corsair pc3200 512mb of ram. i am currently on stock cooling, i am planning to get a new one soon but kinda tight on budget for now.. so i need to know step by step direction on how to oc it. Do i have to do the pencil trick or some wiring trick, i have heard about that but not so sure... can i just up the fsb or multiplyer in the bios with out doing any pencil or wiring trick? if i can how do i get it to run like at a 2800+... how far can i get it to? one other thing where can i get a program to tell me my cpu clock speed and the temperture of my cpu? thank you for the help in advance Kevin
darkerick Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 just change the multiplier. CPU-Z is a good program for CPU spped readings all that stuff. But for temps, you might want to get a program called Hardware Monitor.

TypicalSloan Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 Ocing is not something u want to rush, take it slow and up the fsb slowly, test it, and if its stable, up it some more.
Dignan Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 Upping the FSB is really easy to do in the BIOS, not sure of the multi on the 2800 but you should easily be able to bump it to 3200 speed no probs with anything better then stock cooling. Word of caution, change setting gradually it helps sys stability, and gives you a more accurate ceiling of the OC. I am curious to see how far the 2600 goes never read anything about them.
