Oc'ing And Power Supply

:bah: The reason I'm asking, I recently OC'ed my XP2000+ to 2.17, vcore set at 2.0v. I had a 300w Power Supply but changed it out w/ a 350w Raidmax. Now when I'm gaming, I can hear my fans "bog down" when my games lags. I though 350w would be plenty(Check Signature) to run all my equip. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, Please!!

Im pretty new here, but i still know a little bit about what im talking about (i think anyways :P)

your vcore might be set too high at 2.0, most people only go to 1.85 at the most.

usually a good 350watt PSU is enough, but considering your running 6 TT smart fans you might be pushing it a little.

Yeah the six fans might have something to do with it BUT do you see any change in everything when that happends (lights in the house and all that) it might be a house power problem  and your PSU might not get the juice it needs.

That should be plenty of power but check your rails. might need to have one with bigger 12V rails. I run currenty a Shuttle Small form factor with twin WD raptors,9800 pro 256, 1 gig of pc4000 ,P4 2.4C @ 2.7 in this mobo so far and its only a 200W PSU. so if i can handle mine then u should be able to handle 350 fine. U might just be overloading a 12V rail with too much "other" stuff and accessories.

You mean like 4 Tt Case Fans and 2 HDD's on 1 rail, DUH!!!!! I didn't even think of that. Lemme give that a try!!!

Update!!!!!! Went to my store and dug up a 350w PS with a higher 12v wattage rating......Everything Runs fine!!! Thanks for the jumpstart!

Some PSU have more amps to the 12v,bigger isn't always better check the specs if you decide to buy a new one

EX:An antec purepower 480w has 18 amp on the 12v line

And enermax 460w has 22 amp.

Amps are the actual juice everything needs and sucks, if your PS cant deliver you might experience what you have

I have a generic 350w driving 4 80mm a set of mad lights and around a dozen leds, i made a test plugging my cpu fan on it and if i unplug some of the fans, my cpu fan rpm goes up so it just might be your PSU :D

That's one thing i didn't know and thnx to you now i do :D

sounds like the power supply wasn't quite up to it.....

6 Tt smartfans?? each Smartfan draws .7 amps....much more than a generic case fan

that equals about 51 watts..... any PSU would be pushed hard sending 51+ watts to just the fans.......

maybe install a few generic fans instead of all those smartfans??
