Upping the FSB

Recommended Posts

Hi people

With the 975x/g there are two settings in the bios for cpu voltage. Which one should I up when doing a small overclock of 266mhz to 300mhz?

Thx

First of all I would try it with the stock voltage just to see if it is stable. If so, leave it as it is. If it starts crashing UP the core voltage a notch or two and maybe a little more on the NB and RAM untill you find it stable again.

I found my E6600 ran at 300 mhz on stock volts and got to 360 with only a little more ( on the stock intel cooler). I would advise slowing your RAM down to 400 untill you are sure the CPU is stable. Then increase the speed on the ram untill it starts crashing ( then knock it back to the last stable setting ):)

OK, thx, I have upped my NB, RAM and Vcore(CPU VID) by one notch. It works fine, and thx as I now have the fsb at 320mhz.

One quickie, When would someone raise the overall voltage supplied to the CPU (CPU VTT)?

thx

steve
