OldGuy Posted August 24, 2006 It's really not difficult to do at all...yes you can screw up. I've done half a dozen or so and the worst I've done is slightly bend a few pins that were easily straightened. Using an XP-90 on my 150 has netted me a tiny chip at one corner though it doesn't seem to have hindered it in any way...
old_geekster Posted August 24, 2006 Yes, I am clocked to 2.7 and that is no doubt very close to the limit for my 4800+. I beat the FX-60 and that was my goal.
AsAs1n8eR Posted August 24, 2006 The IHS on my current one is on.I had another processor thatw as removed.I won't remove it again since I could barely sell it after.I rather pay good money on a better cooler than remove IHS.

WakeUpDead Posted August 30, 2006 I dont have the skill nor the balls to try, if I have a few low end chips to practice on. I would not try it on the chips I have for the first try.

RAINMAKA Posted August 30, 2006 If I get a bolt down or water cooling then the lid will come off. But with a XP-120 I'd rather keep the IHS on then crush my cpu.
