DarkJedi Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 For some odd reason my 7900GT card just wont fit in the first slot. The back goes in just fine and is JUST barely resting on the NF4 heatsink; but it's the front that refuses to go in. I was careful not to jam the card in there, and at one time I was able to get the card to go in half way (meaning some of the connectors were still sticking out of the slot), but I did not feel comfortable with that, so I moved it to the second slot. From what I can tell there isn't a single thing blocking the front of the card as I had the card out of the case and same issue. The card fit just fine in the second slot with no effort at all, but it's dangerously close to my PCI sound card (meaning there isn't much space for cooling), and would rather prefer to have this in the first slot instead. Has anyone else had this issue? I just installed the board this weekend, so it's a brand new board out of the box. Thanks. EdLSmith Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 You probably tightened all the screws when mounting your motherboard. Loosen slightly, then insert GFX card then tighten them. This is a simple and common error, easily fixed.

Honestly I have never seen nor heard of this happening..I had two 7800GTXs in SLI on a SLI-DR so I am shocked to hear that you are unable to fit the card in the top slot as 7800s are larger than 7900GTs....  Provide some pics of this if you can...as I am certain there are more than a handful of members here that have the 7900GT in the top slot of a SLI-DR...  EDIT: And do what the guy above me said.....I was too slow with my response
aiya Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 motherboard not lined up properly in case?
DarkJedi Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Wow the screws can do that? That's quite odd, but even the stupidest things can be the problem. I will do that as well as take some pics. Thanks for the quick responses. I found this quite odd as I've never had this issue before, especially with my old Asus A8N SLI-Premium. Â *edit* Yeah, the mobo did fit perfectly to the case, and I didn't have to force anything at all.

wevsspot Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 In addition to temporarily loosening the m/b screws, bend the bottom tab on the video card slightly inwards using a pair of needle nosed pliers. Then when installing the card install the front of the card first and kind of "loop" that tab around underneath the motherboard and m/b tray. Once you're clear in the front gently push down on the rear to fully seat the card in the slot. Â Let me know how that goes. Â If that doesn't work you could always trim that tab a little bit. OldGuy Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 The slot where the metal gfx card tab slides into is your problem...same thing happens with my stacker. Either try to open the slot up a little so the tab can slide in -or- while you are applying pressure use your left hand and a screw driver and push lightly on the tab and it should slide right in. You may be able to do as Wev said and just tweak the tab a little one way or the other...

DarkJedi Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Quick question, as you see in my sig, I have DDR500 and I tried running just a divider to get to DDR500 and it was able to boot, but in Windows I started getting crashes and everything. So I bumped it back down and everything was fine. I didn't OC the HTT at all, but shouldn't I be able to just do a divider instead of oc'ing the HTT to get the speeds? watsonte Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Whats your FSB if your running your FX-60 at 2.9?
DarkJedi Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I just upped the multiplier to 14.5 (as the default is 13) to get to 2.9. I have since dropped everything back to default (2.6) just to ensure everything is working properly.
