Guest element Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Hi I've posted a few times but this is my first thread. My problem is as follows: Playing fear i dont think i'm doing it justice. Also i believe its time to upgrade one or two components in my rig as alot of people are ditching the 939 socket. Which of the components in my sig is limiting my enjoyment of games? So far the cpu hasnt been a problem but the timings i have to use on my Geil POS ram are stupid. GFX ? pair of unbridged 6600gts dont really seem to be the problem would ugrading these to a single x1900GT be wize choice? Or again the ram as it cant clock for oats? EllisD Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 The clocking of your ram i dont think is as big of a proglem as the amount of ram that you have. Most games nowadays that really tax your system really require 2 gigs of ram to play them smoothly. I would definetly look into that. As for your vid, have you tried using an sli connector to get your 6600gt;s working together? I dont know how much of a performance increase you will get, but spending $15-$20 on a sli bridge and seeing how it works might be the step before dropping cash on a new vid card. I agree. 2x1GB will work miracles, especially running F.E.A.R. and BF2 for instance. And you'll be freed of those stupid timing... Everything else seems up to the challenge? To be honest, I didn't even know you could run SLI without a bridge??
EllisD Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Hes not running SLI, just DXG like the Ultra-D supports. But since he has already done the SLI mod to the chipset, it would be as easy as hooking the 2 together.
