integrale Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 basicly, ive had to send my motherboard off for RMA 2 times, first time it came back not fixed, 2nd time, i cant even tell, my opteron 144 s939 for some reason isnt working now, when i give it power, all i get is 4 red led's and all the fans spin at full power, ive tried re-seating the cpu a couple of times now and i dunno what to try next. it was working fine when i removed it, but now nothing. Zoli Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I guess, you have to try out your Opti with another board...
tasr Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Integrale, Is that Hiper Type-R 580W PSU modular? If so check the connections. Reseat your CPU. Clear the CMOS like this. Follow it exactly. Then load optimized defaults in the BIOS.
integrale Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 just checked all the connections and cant see anything to be wrong, i also re-seated the cpu AGAIN made no difference and as for the cmos clear, as i said, its been clearing like that for the last week
tasr Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Testing Your PSU Voltage Rails Then swap out the CPU then the PSU. 4 LEDs on = Power applied, checking CPU 3 LEDs on = CPU has been detected OK, checking RAM 2 LEDs on = RAM has been detected OK, checking VGA 1 LED on = VGA has been detected OK, entering BIOS 0 LEDs on = System has booted to the Operating System

integrale Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 to be honest, ive had so muhc trouble since getting this computer, part of me wants it to be faulty so that i have an excuse to go out and get new bits.. for 2 months now its jsut been sat there no working, the parts cost me near £800 and im royally pissed off with it.. ive taken it apart, re built it taken it apart, re built it over and over and never had the slightest bit of sucess with it.. After this 2nd RMA i cant even tell if the mobo is owrking properly now cause the CPU has mysteriously stopped working.. i dont evn have spare components to try anymore :/
tasr Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 The Expert motherboard is very picky about power and the types of PSU’s it uses. Look at the PSU’s from recommend list specifically for the Expert motherboard. Recommended Power Supplies. Power requirement for a DFI motherboards are very high because they where designed from the ground up to overclock. PSU can disrupt so many things in ones rig. The stability can go at 1st, which then gets worse and worse as time goes on. Then major power issues with the motherboard and it will seem stability related. Components can also fail or seem to cause stability issues. Basically the PSU is slowly dying and may take your motherboard and or components with it. A PSU failing can happen all of a sudden or slowly over time. Check this thread out; http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62220 He replaced his (Replaced Hiper Type R 580W PSU)
