WSDcomputer Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 where's the best place to order your monitors from?
watsonte Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 NewEgg.com would be the best in my book, but I dont order monitors online, I prefer instore allowing an infinite number of times to return a monitor with dead or stuck pixels...I was able to take back 5 Samsung Monitors prior to getting one that was perfect...New Egg nor any E-tailer for that matter would ever allow that... I would suggest going to Circuit City or Best Buy...
lcamino1984 Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 If we're talking retail, I've found some good deals at shopping club warehouses. Places like Sam's Club or Cosco. They usually have a good return policy. I would have to agree that newegg.com is one of the best etailers, and I have bought plenty of monitors through them both personally and for my work. One place I would avoid is tigerdirect.com because the first time I ordered monitors from them, I clicked the 'buy' button at checkout and they charged my credit card $40 more than the final price indicated ($20 each monitor). I spent about a week trying to get the problem solved, but they said that they couldn't give me the price they advertized becuase then "they would not make any money". So, I decided it wasn't worth my time and vowed to never buy from them again.
Guest area51 Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I have had great luck with Dell for my monitors (Dell branded)... Most recently ordered 3 of the 20 inch widescreens...one had some sort of wierd ghost line defect (the first defective dell monitor I have ever recieved pixel or otherwise) and they replaced it at their cost asap. Other than Dells I am fond of Samsungs...I have bought 3 through newegg without any problems at all. If you order online I strongly suggest you stay with makers of known quality with a history of good manufacturing standards....You really have very little protection from dead pixels and shoddy manufacturing other than the honesty of the manufacturer and your retailer. As stated above you can buy at a retail store and have more control of the particular unit you are getting...but it seems like you will pay more 90% of the time (perhaps not after rebates  etc). Which route you choose is really based on your preference.
TMac Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I've seen your case on People's Court. If you have a receipt w/ a quoted price for the monitors and if they don't sell it to you, it is BREACH OF CONTRACT. You are w/in your legal rights to sue for the price difference. Fogel Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Yah, If either Sam's Club or Costco had the monitor I wanted I would of purchased from them first ...then Best buy ...then Circuit City, possibly CompUSA ( I don't like them ) ...then an e-tailer. The problem with all mortar and brick places nearby is the selection essentially sucks. My first choice online would be New Egg. I have used them twice for LCDs, one for me and one for the parental units - both times were good experiences. After that my confidence level drops in using another business. I would possibly give Zip Zoom Fly a try since I used them before and felt good about them, but their prices are usually on par with NewEgg or a little more. Well, that was what I really wanted to do, but in the end, I just decided it wasn't worth my time. Anyway, I digress. I would have to agree with Area51 that the Dells and Samsungs are nice. I use a Dell 19" at work and a Samsung 204T at home. I haven't gotten any dead pixles with either brand. At least, none that I've noticed. Yeah but who has time to sue for 40 bucks? A lot of retailers will work off this aspect, but most refund those who complain and hope to just make a few extra off those that dont care or dont notice. After a week fighting with "customer service" I decided it wasn't worth the $40 and that this particular etailer was unethical in their business practices and wouldn't get any more of my (or my employer's) hard earned dollars. I've never had any problems like that with newegg, and that's with well over $10K in purchaces between myself and my various jobs over the past few years.
