red930 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I'm pretty sure that you'll want to use 11/14/2005 or more recent Edit: Yeah, I just checked 6-23 should be fine. My mistake
MadChicago Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I'm pretty sure that you'll want to use 11/14/2005 or more recent Why is that? I wonder if this is why I am having issues with my newly installed X2 4800 on the 06/23/05 BIOS on an SLI-D board...
Spring2188 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I think I may have a bad cpu is why I ask... won't even boot up
ronin688 Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 The 6/23 BIOS is completely compatible with dual core processors. I originally used it for 2 months before switching to the 704-2BTA. Honestly I can't tell any difference in performance between the two. If you're having problems then it most likely isn't the BIOS version giving you trouble but give us some more info and maybe someone here can help. You say it won't boot up, how many LED's are lit? Have you tested your RAM with memtest? Double checked that all 4 power connectors are hooked up? Tried with just one stick of RAM in the orange slot furthest from the CPU? etc etc.. lots of different things to try for you, just give us a bit more info on what's happening, Good luck! wevsspot Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Check your diagnostic LED's. How many are lit? IMHO the 0704-2bta is the absolute best BIOS to use on the Ultra-D board.
Spring2188 Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I have an opteron cpu that boots no problem, when swapped with the dual core I get no boot... I'd say it's a bad cpu and needs rma'd
