DarkJackalX Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 WinFast A350 NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra 5.2.1.6 with -Zalman ZM80C-HP Cooler for GPU with -Zalman ZM-OP1 Slim Fan That is my Graphics card, I was wondering what I could overclock it too. I have the program WinFox which allows me to overclock easily. It has a 2D and 3D scale, for both engline, and memory speed. If anyone could tell me what I could do to obtain a safe OC for it. Or if anyone has experience on this particular card what your suggestion would be. Thanks for all your assistance, in advance. ~Jackal System: Running at 3.6GHz, 20% Increase w/Turbo Temps: CPU 30C / MB 31C / GFX Edge 32C Surface 52C __________________________________________________ Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz 800 MHz FSB Hyper Threading with -Zalman CNPS7000-Cu Pure Copper CPU Cooler WinFast A350 NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra 5.2.1.6 with -Zalman ZM80C-HP Cooler for GPU with -Zalman ZM-OP1 Slim Fan ASUS P4P800 Deluxe Motherboard Lian-Li PC-61 Aluminum Case Corsair XMS Speed Series PC-3200CPT DDR400 MHz 2 - Seagate 120GB 7200RPM SATA (RAID 0) with Vantec VTX-C01-BK Vortex HD Cooling System Hercules Game Theater (6.1) XP ENERMAX EG465P-VE 460W Lite-On 52x32x52 CD-RW Drive Pioneer ATAPI 16x DVD-ROM
syneze Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Ok, OC'ing videocards isn't really that hard. Go up in small increments and once you see artifacts you stop. There ya go. Just like a CPU...you OC it until you're unstable then you lay off, right?
DarkJackalX Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 What are artifacts? ~Jackal Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz 800 MHz FSB Hyper Threading with -Zalman CNPS7000-Cu Pure Copper CPU Cooler WinFast A350 NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra 5.2.1.6 with -Zalman ZM80C-HP Cooler for GPU with -Zalman ZM-OP1 Slim Fan ASUS P4P800 Deluxe Motherboard Lian-Li PC-61 Aluminum Case Corsair XMS Speed Series PC-3200CPT DDR400 MHz 2 - Seagate 120GB 7200RPM SATA (RAID 0) with Vantec VTX-C01-BK Vortex HD Cooling System Hercules Game Theater (6.1) XP ENERMAX EG465P-VE 460W Lite-On 52x32x52 CD-RW Drive Pioneer ATAPI 16x DVD-ROM
syneze Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 You'll know when you see them. Basically if you don't notice any problems with the visual display, you're fine.
DarkJackalX Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 What about restarting/rebooting? Like I am experiencing now with Halo PC. I think it is due to my CPU OC I did yesterday, I was experiencing no problems.. until now. ~Jackal Should I RMA my CPU to Intel or something? GmAz Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 (edited) If you want to overclock your video card, sell teh 5900 Ultra, buy a 9800 Pro adn overclock it. I have a buddy that has almost the identical ssytem I have. I built it modeled after mine. He wanted NVidia so i got it for him. Well, running Max Payne 2 which is DX9, Mine runs HELLA faster than his does. My OC on my CPU is only 200Mhz faster, I have watercooling, he doens't. That wouldn't make up for the bad FPS on his side. Ditch the 5900 and get ATI. The ATI is just better. And yes, I was a die hard NVidia fan until i tried a 9800 Pro. PS, the rest of your system rocks Edited October 27, 2003 by GmAz

Ziggy54354 Posted October 28, 2003 Posted October 28, 2003 i think you should just get the pro so you dont lose any money, youll probably end up saving money actually.
Newb_ocer Posted October 28, 2003 Posted October 28, 2003 I think the problem about restarting and rebooting is heat related, if it happens when your playing high graphical games that take alot of cpu. You might wanna get better cooling or lay off your overclock or monitor your temps under load.
