bathawes Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Hey all, I'm new to the DFI forums, at least ths is one of my first posts! Was wondering if any of you obviously very knowledgable people would be able to assist me. I have been using bog standard 7200 RPM IDE drives for quite some time now. I have decided to switch to a pair of SATA drives, and have chosen Raid-0 configuration, as i play a lot of games and feel i would benefit from the decreased load times. However, even though Angry has made such an informative walkthrough guide, i Still can't get Raid-0 set up correctly. I follow the guide to the letter, but thw Windows XP setup screen still recognises the two drives separately rather than as one volume. The problem may lie in me not setting the BIOS options correctly; i am a little confused about the IDE primary master / secondary concept, and ay help on setting up settings in BIOS for RAID-0 would be greatly appreciated. I have checked the manual, and i know i have plugged the pair of drives into ports 1 and 2 of the Nvidia (as opposed to the silicon image) RAID controller. I hope this means you can assist me! Thanks ALOT in advance for any help you could provide. Ben.
watsonte Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Okay in the Bios, I cant remember off hand which menu, its on the left side I know that, there is a menu for the Radi Congifuration, you need to enable the Raid on those drives, So Ports 1-4...The once the system boots up you need to hit F10 I believe, create the raid array, once the array is created, you setup windows, you will need to hit F6 to install 3rd party drivers install the Nvidia Drivers and then Windows should detect the drives as a single drive... snapilica2003 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I had the exact same problem... the thing is.. the RAID is created but Windows XP setup detects them as 2 drives because at the F6 menu u didn't load both of the drivers ... the RAID and the controller .... they both have "(required)" at the end. U load one.. then press "S" again and load the 2nd ... after this you should see the disk as one!

Go to the 4th screen where it says Raid Config in link you press enter, then it will open to the 6th screen shot in link.Where it says raid enabled in red, make sure that is enabled. Then same screen under that it says Internal Phy Sata 3 Raid, then 4 then 1 then 2.Enable all of them also. When installing windows press f6 and load both raid drivers as someone mention earlyer.
