Here's where I'm at.

DFI expert socket 939-mobo

Athlon 4800+ Toledo -proc

OCZ gamexstream 700w -psu

g.skill 3-4-4-8 pc4000 ddr500 184pin 1gigx2 -RAM

Seagate 320gb sata -hd

TIGERMAX midtower 120rear and 80side stock fans

These are my current concerns..

1. My case is steel, can I keep it cool?

2. I think an ATI radeonx1900xtx 512mb expressx16 would make a good video card

3. Can I run all this with stock cooling?

4. If not what makes the biggest difference?

I really need some help..

Hello and welcome to the forum the vid card is fine and also the case is fine but if you plant o do any overclocking i would stringly recommend upgrading the stock coooling also make sure to use AS5 if u replace the stock cooling.

1. steel of aluminum won't really make a difference temp wise because none of the electrical components are directly touching the case(except the hard drives). but it will make a difference weigth wise.

2. I never go for the top model because you pay a hundred dollars more for 10 percent mor performance which in my eyes isn't justified. (you can always overclock is you want the extra performance). iwould go for the x1900xt but the choice is yours to make this is just my opinion.

3. stock cooling is fine because it's purposely designed for the part. but it also is purposely designed to be cheap for better profit margins. this isn't always true but mostly it is. the x1900xtx usually already comes with a decent cooler. but if you want lower noise and lower temps third party cooling is always an option.

4. dont really understand this question.

1 . The case should be fine.

2 . If u have the money for the better ( XTX ) then i say go for it.

i'll always buy the better one if i have money for it.

3 . Stock cooling is fine unless u dont want lower noise and maybe a little lower temps if u use AS5.

4 . Dont understand what u mean with this..

And welcome to the street.

1. case fine.

2. take a XT, not XTX, just OC it to XTX, get yourself a nice artice cooling or zalman cooler with it (30-50bucks)

3. yes, but 50 bucks for the GFX and 50 bucks for the CPU can make a whole lot of difference in sound and temps.

4. i would start with the GPU cooling, then cpu...

P.s.

1. Dont get a 4800. its not worth it, get a 4400 or lower.

2. unless you really know what your doing, dont get an expert. you'll just get confused. its name isnt just for show.

Example of a good signature:

DFI LanParty NF4 Ultra-D

Bios 6/23/2005-3 (date code is more important than the actual bios file name)

Athlon64 3200+ Venice

2x512MB OCZ PC3200 BH-5 UTT (OCZ4001024ELDCGE-K)

2x 80GB Hitachi SATA II hdd

NEC 3540A DVD-RW

Pioneer 16X DVDrom

Sapphire ATI X850XT Platinum Edition

OCZ Powerstream 520w power supply

Audigy II ZS sound card

Windows XP Pro SP 2

I'm no expert on this but I'll try to give you some advice.

If you're going into overclocking then a X1900XT is a better bet (or at least that's the info I was given) it's cheaper and is likely to give you the same performance with some oc-ing.

Again, if you are going to OC stock cooling could be a problem so go find some cooler reviews and find some that fit your demands and of course the rig.

Again, I'm far from an expert but I don't see how a steel case is harder to cool than other ones, but if it is it could well be resolved with some well placed fans with proper airflow.

I hope this helps.

Not agree.. the XTX use samsung DDR3 BJ11, the ,most part of XT.. other..

and after do some test in Xtremesystems we have find the XTX Overclock better.. the core need a lot of voltage for OC fine and it seems the XTX keep better the voltage.. more the XTX can continue up the clock speed, when the most part of peoples with XT begin have problem.. ( my XTX do 800/900, can bench at

810/910 if the temp amb. permit me decrease my water temp.. so only on winter)

Now if you are not mad bencher, you OC a XT to XTX speed, and you will not see any difference..

I really need some help..

1. [sarcasm]Hell no, steel cases will immediately turn red with such a heatdump in your case![/sarcasm]

Case material doesn't really matter. Airflow is what matters, material only plays a small role. You might see a difference if you have 0 casefans, but I think you don't.

2. I think so too.

3. Obviously yes, nobody puts a product on the market that overheats without aftermarket cooling.

4. Aftermarket coolers for the XTX do not perform very well (they tend to be aimed at silence, and you can't have the best of both worlds), due to the high heat output. Acceleros and VF-900s are the most popular, but it's known that the last one sometimes performs worse than the stock cooler. No idea on the first one, you'll need to look it up.
