davidhammock200 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Hello once again, I have been fighting a losing battle with my DFI motherboard and issues with Blue Screens and Random Reboots (when playing games). I am thinking I have found the cause.... I use Corsair Value Select Memory and the CAS is rated at CL2.5 I beleive this to be the case as the board runs at CL2.0??? I have set it to this at the moment. On a side note memtest ran for 8 hours without a hitch So buy purchasing the OCZ Platinum Series 2GB Kit Rated at CL2 I reckon I will be on to a winner. What do you think? Woo, I got my new RAM and PSU it's all good now. Please anyone who sees a problem being solved just by replacing non-recommended PSU &/or RAM, with DFI-Street.com recommended PSU &/or RAM, please post it here! Maybe this thread will finally show the doubters, the wisdom of following our recommendations! Thank you, Dave
Thraxz Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Getting my OCZ 700w GamerXstream gave me another 200Mhz OC on the same voltage! ...and that's over a relatively highly rated Silverstone 560watt Zeus PSU.
davidhammock200 Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Cold Boot Problem Gone! !Many thanks for the advice Just fitted and power up power down now working fine. One last question with this power supply is the fan at the bottom or the top ? I have it with the fan at the bottom .......... Looking fwd to learning more and to begin tweaking my rig Thanks again ! Replaced Seasonic S-500W with OCZ GXS 600W.

This will give us something to back up our statements, when we try to convince someone it is their RAM or PSU causing a particular problem. davidhammock200 Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 I got my new PSU 3 days ago and have been testing since. I got the OCZ 700W recommended by DFI-STREET. I though it would only fix my SLI problems but it also fixed my memory issues. I did measure my rails with a multimeter since I don't trust the software readings. With my Silverstone I could not get anything but 2.5.4.4.8 on my Corsair memory running at 460 MHz, I'm now running at 2.3.3.6 at 460 MHz. The 12v rail (with multimeter) is a stable 12.17 and it hardly fluctuates. I don't have to under clock my cards and I gain 100 point in 3dmark2006. Don't get me wrong, the Silverstone power supply was great for my old Athlon XP 3200 machine, but it couldn't handle my current setup. Thanks for all your help hope this helps other people having the same issue. OCZ PSU's solve many problems!
