Problem when using divider

Recommended Posts

Guest Brehon

I have had my memory running at 270mhz, and my opty doing 270x10, and i wanted to increase my fsb and have my opty run at 280x10 or something, but when i change the divider from 200 to 180, one of my cores gets an error in prime after 1 minute. Can anyone help me, thanks alot.

Increase vcore to 1.4 -1.45 see how it gos.

Do you think that would work, because it primes for hours when it is at 1.33 with the 200 divider. I'll try increasing the vcore though if you think it might work.

Does it prime for hours at 2800 or 2700?

Alright, i'll explain whats happening. I have had it at the 200 divider, running at 270 fine, and the cpu was running at 270x10, but right when i change the divider to 180, leaving the cpu running at 270x10, one of the cores will fail prime after 1 minute.

Edit: This is very strange(imo),i increased the voltage like you said; too 1.325v-104.8%and it passed test one on the 180 divider, i still don't understand why it was passing at 1.33 on the 200 divider...Do you have any idea why that is?

Always the same core ,I know some have trouble with dividers on some cpus.I would still try bumping the vcore a little just to see as memory controller is on cpu.

Just saw your edit: memory controller on cpu and you are running out of specs and sometimes just needs alittle more juice.

As far as i know the divider puts stress on the memory controller and that could be why it wants more voltage. Someone correct me if i am wrong.

edit-LOL your quick lowboy just read his post and did quick reply and u still beat me.

This is driving me crazy, one core will always error in prime, even when I am at 280x10 on the 180 divider with just under 1.5v, right now i put it back to under 1.4v and have it at 175x10 on the 200 divider, any other things i should try?

oh well that was annoying, i just wrote a really long reply and then it got lost cos i had to tick the box for some bloody forum agreement even though i'm already a member!

i've used the 166 divider with 3500, 2x146, 148, 170 and had to use preamble=6.5 instead of default (5 or 5.5ns) so i suggest experimenting with preamble values of 5-7.5 in memtest86 for the 180 divider as it may need preamble tweaking
