Evil Ruin Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Hello, im new to these forums and about to do my frist purchase with a DFI board. I had a quick question abou the board i am wanting to buy. The board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136166 One of the reviews says that i will need "8- pin EPS power connector" which im not sure if the power supply i am going to be buying has that. I am not going to be running SLI, just a single 7900GT 512 video card the link is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130034 Now as far as the power supply it is comes with the case im buying and before i checkout i need to know that the power supply will be compatible with what i am running, the link for the case/PSU is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811146017 And i am going to be running AMD X2 4800+ the link for that is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103544 and as far ram there was another review that says OCZ ram is not compatible with this board and the ram i was looking into was OCZ and i wanted to know if it is compatible. The link for the ram is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227084 Sorry if this is alot of questions or w/e but im spending over 1500$ grand total for everything and i want it to be right (if you know what i mean) :s Anything would help! THANKS!
Guest Neezer Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 First thing you need to do is read the rules and make a sig. There is a thread here with recommended PSU's. check that out for PSU info. Sorry I can't find it right now. Also, the extra price for PC4000 RAM is going to be worth it especially if you are going to overclock. If you know for a fact that you will never overclock, then go with the PC3200. Good luck and Welcome Read the rules. EDIT: Here is the url to the psu thread. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854
lowboy Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Everything should work well except the psu get a recommended one. The sli-dr would be my choice for the mobo.
Evil Ruin Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 DDR 500 (PC 4000) RAM would work with this motherboard? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136166
Guest Neezer Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Yes. but only get it if you are going to overclock. because the front side bus of the un-overclocked system is only 200HZ. that is DDR400. So if you are not overclocking there is no point in spending the extra money to get DDR500. because the RAM will be underclocked to DDR400. lowboy Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Ram will be fine the only problem was PSU. The psu's that come with cases are garbage. At best will cause problems at worse will fry your system why would anyone invest 1500.00 in a rig and put a 39.00 psu in it. As the psu is the heart of your system. A good psu is well worth the investment.
