Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Oh my god…….Why, why, why is it so hard to convince some people that a 430w PSU is not going to work in a DFI motherboard!

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I just need to let out a steam. I’m better now.

I have trouble convincing people not to buy 380~420W power supplies on my home forum. Most of 'em are buying Conroe or AMD dual-core processors and X1900/7900 video cards but somehow have convinced themselves that with the "new architecture", power consumption has dramatically decreased. Funny thing is that when they have problems, they try to blame anything and anything except the PSU. Sure Intel and AMD have decreased power usage on some of the newer chips but not to the stage where you can skimp on descent clean power.

I have one rig here that uses a *cough cough* Thermaltake 430W PSU (my daughter blew up a TruePower 480W and this was all I had as a spare) BUT it is only running a Venice 3500+ and a 6600GT APG card; all other rigs use a 550W or better PSU.

Why worry about it? If they are not willing to do the research, ask questions to avoid problems and then ask questions after the build with unusuable components it's not worth the time.. You can never give them the quick easy answer they are looking for so you are of no use to them. They got to where they are by being lazy and uniformed so let them stay that way. It only takes a post or two to find out whether it's worth your time.

*insert link to recommended power supplies*

For some people that will work. Other's never, they just don't get it. I mean why should I really care. I'm good and I've help others. I guess you can't save them all.

....They'll smarten up when they fry something.

I guess that is what upsets me the most. Then they come down on DFI, saying that the motherboard is a pos. These boards deserve more respect than that.

My girlfriends son is using an old build of mine, "SLOT A"... the central air is out, and we are relying on a window unit... 2 other desktops are on the same circuit, along with a tv and the lights. When you turn on the window A/C, or if you have it set so that the compressor cycles, the lights DIM and his computer reboots and he loses his game! The other two computers are unaffected. (I *think* his computer has an old DEER 300 watter., but whatever it is, its apparent that there is insufficient microfarads of Capacitance in it to sustain it thru the brief voltage drop. Ive got an ANTEC 550 around here somewhere I need to slide in that thing ASAP! poor kid.

Agreed. I have never been any more than an amateur overclocker. I came to DFI and this forum, more for learning what components are QUALITY then to figure out how to get my machine to hit 273 gigawhammies! I just like buying componants, and picking out what I want, then making it work. I have NOT bought an assembled machine since the DOS days.

All that said, if the folks that KNOW say don't USE an Aspire power supply, or whatever, WHY in GODS name would anyone argue or ask why over and over? I dunt get it.
