ACiDRAiN Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Hi @ all, 2 days ago, I flashed my BIOS to the actual version (04/06/2006), with Winflash. I checked "Update all" and "Clear CMOS", my BIOS is getting flashed. Then I had to restart my PC, and after that, nothing works. I turned my PC on, and I only see the Information about my very very old PCI-GFX for 2 seconds, after that, normaly the BIOS Information (Checkroutine for CPU, IDE, ..... or the DFI Logo) popped up. But this doesn't happened now, after GFX-Information I only see a black screen. Now I think that my BIOS is really defect, cause i tried many methods (24h Clear CMOS) The really weird thing for me is, that I could see the GFX-Info and then nothing, the monitor gets all the time a signal. What can I do else? Plz help me. Excused my english!
tasr Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Did you clear the CMOS like this; Proper way to clear the CMOS from a "No Boot" condition ? Follow it exactly. Then Load Optimized Defaults in the BIOS. Then contact Tmod here for New Pre-Programmed BIOS Chips. I don’t know if he ships to Russia. DFI Recommended Power Supplies (UPDATED June 14th, 2006!) Minimum requirements is a 24-pin 480w power supply (PSU) DFI-Street PSU Brands to Avoid

I don't came so far to Load Optimized Defaults in the BIOS, because I get the black screen before. I REALLY don't think that the reason is the PSU, cause i used my mobo 1 year, with a 7900GT and 24 Pin-Connector, without one problem. I live in Russia and Germany . Could i get a new mobo, when I use the RMA, as reason "failed update or bios flash"?
wevsspot Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Visit the BIOSMEDIC and see if TMOD will ship to Germany. His turn-around time is usually pretty good and it never hurts to have a few spare BIOS chips laying around. He will even pre-program them with the BIOS of your choice. I've seen the guy that handles DFI EU support floating around here on the forums from time to time and he seems like a pretty reasonable fellow. Perhaps contact him also and explain your dilema and he may be able to help you out. On the other front sometimes a board comes back to life even after longer than 24 hours, so you could try that option also. lowboy Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 How many leds stay lit. Also you PSU is way underpowered for your rig minimum recommended is 480W with 26A on 12v rails. Here is the way to read the Diagnostic LEDs. 4 LEDs on = Power applied, checking CPU 3 LEDs on = CPU has been detected OK, checking RAM 2 LEDs on = RAM has been detected OK, checking VGA 1 LED on = VGA has been detected OK, entering BIOS 0 LEDs on = System has booted to the Operating System. As long as you are in the BIOS including running memtest from the BIOS option, there will be one LED on. Example: If you are getting 3 LEDs on, it means the rig is having trouble detecting the RAM. The lower(PCI) Amber LED is the 5VSB indicator. The upper Amber LED is the RAM voltage indicator. Once the rig has started and been shut down the RAM LED will go out until the PSU is power cycled. Your LED-Statistic says it all and describe now my Problem, that already was my own opinion, only 1 LED (left) lit when I turned the power on, and that means:---> The Bios can't be entered? Right? wevsspot Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Yes, that's why you are ordering a new BIOS chip. In the future use TMOD's BIOS FLASH CD to change your BIOS revisions to and fro. It is a bootable CD .ISO image and I've done multiple flashes using that utility without a single bad flash.
ACiDRAiN Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 So, today I get my ordered new bios-chip with the newest version of bios-software (406). I pulled my old bios-chip with a extra-tool out, and put the new in. But nothing changed! ;( ;( The same problem that I already describe in my other post continues. And again only one LED lit. Now, I'm at a loss what to do! What next? Please help me.
wevsspot Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 1. Pull everything from the case. 2. Follow the NF4 build guide for a minimum hardware build (link in my sig.) 3. Use one stick of RAM in the orange slot closest to the top of the board. 4. Get a new PSU that meets the minimum wattage and amperage requirements for an NF4 board. 5. Before you try to boot for the first time make sure to utilize ExRoadies full CMOS clear for a no boot condition. The link is in my sig. titled "disaster recovery". Pay special attention to the motherboard speaker jumper (enabled) and the insert/delete key sequence. Those are very important. Report back on your progress. Hopefully happy days are right around the corner.

And Yesterday I do the 24h CMOS clear, till today. I exactly execute the steps. DONE Is the mainboard defekt? What next, now?
