I'm having a little delimma making my mind up. I currently have a 256 mb 7800 gtx @ 470/1200

I was thinking about purchasing the 512 mb 7900gt for $300,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130034

selling my current card for ~$180 on ebay, also picking up a vf-900 to cool the 7900 ~$40..... So net cost of ~$160.

I run games at 1280x1024, with my current card I can run everything high and at 4xAA, usually anything higher and the frame rate suffers....

I couldnt find any bench's to compare the two... My current 3dmark05 is just under 8000 (7950).

The big question: Will the extra memory and higher clock speeds of the 7900 gt (560/1500) be enough of a benefit to justify spending $160??

For a simple answer...Yes,

Long anwser, okay I went from having 7800GTXs in SLI, to 7900 GTs in SLI, it it was more of a jump than I thought it would be, I can honestly say at resolutions lower than 1024x1280 I did not notice an extreme difference, I was able to enable a few more video settings, which cleaned up games very nicely...Of coure I am running with only 256mb of memory, and am In line to steup up to a 7900GTX, I say if you do upgrade, go with EVGA and use the Step-Up to you advantage...Its worth the hassle, and while you wait in line you enjoy the 7900GT...They are sending out "fixed" cards so it seems as though you have little to worry about in regards to Artifacts or Crashes...

At the current price, its a steal...Go for it and overclock the thing...

I have a volt modded 7800GT N516. It will pull 600+ core and right at 1300 on the RAM. It will hang with alot of 7800GTX cards in bench marks. I was impressed with my 7800GT. Well this weekend I went on a shopping Spree adn impulse bought a 7900GT KO, I will say the thing clocked right to 599 core and 899 on the RAM and ran 3D Mark 06 with out artifacting, the impressive part was I still have it on Stock cooling till I get my new Block top from Danger Den and I can put the TDX on my AM2. By all means I would to the Jump in a heart beat. I would have reacted sooner had I know how much better the 7900 was compared to the 7800.....
