kccustom Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I have been building a few boxes for brothers/friends and such that can barely find the on/off switch and it has got me thinking, if you were going to build a box for yourself that you were going to run everything @ stock what would you get? And for the sake of reality lets say you have a budget of no more than $1,000.00 for everything except monitor keyboard and mouse. Redbeaver Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 well for $1,000 it aint gonna b a budget box..... lol except monitor too lmao....... hmm everything on stock? no oc whatsoever? (so tempting.....) *all prices are approximate* DFI Inf. SLI (my board) $125 OCZ Gold XTC 2Gb $150 eVGA 7900GT KO $260 OCZ GameXstream600 $120 = $635 say u pick up a stupid case for $15, ud get $650 another DVD-burner, Liteon? $50 dual-layer $700 $300 left for the fastest s939 AMD X2 processor... heck, that would be my system!! Voltes-5 Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Ditto Red, but the thing is it would be so hard to keep ones self not to tinker and OC your pick, because it is a primary candidate, LOL he he he.
kccustom Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Ya, I was thinking if I had to build some more boxes for someone that never intended to OC what is every body liking at the moment. and I guess the budget was just a guide line so people wouldnt just pick the fastest cpu's I am just thinking a good reasonably priced box you could game on if you wanted to. dr_bowtie Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I just did a build for a friend and I came in just under $1000.00 I used Asus M2N-E AM2-4600 dual core WD 250gig Sata-II HD Patriot 2x1gig 4-4-4-12 Win XP-pro CW-fan controller Evga 7300gt (for future SLI) OCZ 600w Powerstream Aspire Super Alien case (chucked the aspire PSU) Best bet is to get a cpu/Mother board combo deal...like thru monarch... I got mine thru Infinty Systems...and when the 5000-AM2 the owner is swaping the 4600 for it straight up... so check the deals...
