watsonte Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 You know what pisses me off more than anything, the fact that every effing company out there uses a different way to measure their damn products....I buy some fans that are rated at 14db at 72CFM unbelievable......yeah thats for damn sure.....I had some antec fans rated at 28db and around 50CFM....Wow seems loud 28 vs, two fans that equal 28......But some how two fans that are rated at 56db are quieter that two fans that are rated at 28db combined...WHAT THE HELL....I SPEND THE BETTER PART OF AN HOUR trying to get these damn things attached to my effing radiator that for some reason doesnt want to hold screws in.....and all be damned if one didnt just POP out....SOB, ******* SilenX is going to get a piece of my mind thats for damn sure.....25 bucks for some Silent fans my butt...these things produce more noise than any other fan I got..... Man I am pissed......
Redbeaver Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 ouch...must be one of those days i have red-quad-led 120mm SilenX at 14-16db, i forgot, and i couldnt hear a darn thing... the 120mm stock at BigTyphoon is slightly louder... which after i close the case panel the only thing i hear is the harddrive when its busy

Guest Blooz1 Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 You really can't tell much about fan loudness when it's running in open air. What may seem to be just a tiny bit of motor growl when you run a fan standing on a table or something, can turn into a huge rumble when it's bolted into a case! (I've got 2 120MM high-CFM Panaflo's with motor problems that are too loud to use..)

ReelFiles Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Might be vibration, especially if the screws aren't tight, I use rubber in between all my fans to quiet them down.

watsonte Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Well I got my Antec Fans back in with little stress....so I guess I will just have to continue to use those, I was using plastic screws and rubber washers to help tone down the noise, I did notice with these SilenX Fans that the motor was insanely hot, like actually warm to the touch, something I have never seen in a fan before....I dont know what the deal is....But never-the-less I have my system back to quiet mode..... Water Cooling is so nice when I choose to Prime over nite...I can actually sleep well and not wake up just waiting for Prime to fail so I can shut my rig down...
